What we'll walk away with
This is our first in-person board meeting, and it has two jobs: become a real working board, and make a handful of decisions that set up the next two years. Here's what success looks like by Sunday.
Become a working board
We leave with relationships, shared norms, and governance habits in place — and stronger bonds than we arrived with. The in-person time is the point, not a backdrop to it.
Make real decisions
We leave having decided — not just discussed — on values and vision, the strategic plan, the brand, the LOWA 2027 direction, and our operating capacity.
Decisions we land this weekend
Across Friday's working session and Saturday's executive session — grouped by what kind of call each one is.
Decide & shape
DecideVision & values. Determine the vision the plan left blank, and confirm the six values — Friday morning's generative session.
DecideStrategic-plan verdict. What's still true, what's changed, what to retire — and a prioritized list of initiatives: where to step on the gas, what to de-prioritize for now.
DecideLOWA 2027 direction. Set our posture on the expanding partnership.
DecideCalendar-year, cash-basis financials. Adopt the financial proposal (see "The result"); a clean 2027 budget follows after the meeting.
DecideCommitments & next date. Each director names one Q3 commitment; we set the next in-person meeting.
Vote
VoteThe GEA Alliance brand identity. Adopt the brand system.
VoteThe Summit Scholarship logo. Choose the new mark.
VoteOperations assistant. Authorize the hire to take day-to-day load off the ED.
Information only
InfoLegal structure. Understanding only this weekend; the formal ratifying vote happens at the July board call with counsel-prepared materials.
Saturday — board-owned (preview)
While Sunny runs the Wild Woman 50k, the board holds its own executive session, chaired by Alison: board self-assessment and composition, ED evaluation, key-person risk and ED compensation, and forward expectations both ways. The final agenda is Alison's.
Then we celebrate. Saturday evening, the board joins the First 50k Sisterhood post-race — meeting the cohort the work is for. The weekend ends with the mission in the room, not on a slide.
